TAMIU Students’ Fall ‘Fit’ Options Getting Bigger

This Fall, students at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) can put their best fit forward with the expansion of the Kinesiology, Wellness and Recreational Center.

One of the campus’ most popular destinations, the “Rec” will soon boast a 14,000 square foot addition that includes new activity rooms, weight training room and expanded cardio areas.

For student users, this will translate to expanded class offerings and reduction of wait times for specialty equipment.

Funding for the $3.98 million project came from student fees approved by student referendum.  Project architects are Frank Architects.  Project managers are SSC Services for Education and  general contractor is the Marshall Company.

TAMIU Rec Sports coordinates the University’s growing intramural and recreational offerings and provides programs, facilities and services to enhance the quality of life and educational experiences for both the diverse University and local community.

Student participation in Rec Sports programming is closely aligned with the University’s core values of respect, integrity, service and excellence.
